I recently invested $6,500 in a registered Black Angus bull, hoping he’d increase productivity on the farm. But once I turned him out with the herd, all he did was graze and lounge around, showing zero interest in the cows. Day after day, there was no action. I began to worry I’d wasted my money on a glorified lawn ornament.
Concerned I’d made an expensive mistake, I called the vet to examine him. After a quick check, the vet confirmed the bull was healthy, just a little young and maybe lacking motivation. As a precaution, he handed me a bottle of pills and said, “Give him one a day and let’s see what happens.” I didn’t expect much, but figured I had nothing to lose.
Two days later, everything changed. The bull suddenly sprang to life, enthusiastically making the rounds with every cow in sight. And not just mine — he broke through the fence and headed straight for the neighbor’s herd as well! It was like someone flipped a switch. He was a machine, tireless and determined.
I’m not sure what those pills were made of, but they had a strong peppermint smell. Whatever they were, they worked. Now I’ve got a herd full of pregnant cows, a bull with boundless energy, and a neighbor who’s not exactly thrilled. Turns out, sometimes all it takes is a little nudge to awaken the beast!
