I wanted my daughter Lily’s 13th birthday to be magical. As a single mom, I poured my heart into planning every detail — pink and gold decorations, fun games, and the perfect cake. Lily was so excited to celebrate with her closest friends. She had asked not to invite one classmate, Amelia, because Amelia often caused drama and hurt feelings. I respected her wish, believing this day should be about joy and laughter.
When the party began, everything went perfectly. Lily’s friends were laughing, the decorations sparkled, and the house was filled with happiness. Then, to my shock, my ex-husband arrived with Amelia and her parents, having invited them without my consent.
